A two week try-out at a new ecovillage, aiming to grow the founding team

Quinta do Guarda Rios, Nelas, Portugal

Workshops to introduce the proposed ecovillage model and find what it means to be a founder.

Physical work sessions - natural building, gardening

Three plant-based meals per day 

 

12 adults maximum, plus children

Co-created event

​

Everyone helps cook, clean etc. and we design the schedule to meet the group’s needs. 

Participants are invited to offer wellbeing practices, evening activities and to facilitate the heart sharing circles. 

Childcare arranged between us and/or workshop sessions designed to be child-friendly.

Sliding scale €200 - €350 for the whole event

Half paid in advance 

(Possibility of work exchange)

Workshop Topics

Introductions to:

  • Sharing our visions, skills and passions

  • Authentic communication

  • Conflict management 

  • Home building and design, natural construction methods

  • Decision making and facilitation

  • Sociocracy and cooperative structure 

  • Ecovillage and Permaculture design - water systems, access, zoning, events and communal area, home plots, power, facilities, fire protection, tree planting, rewilding, regenerative agriculture

  • Joining process and recruitment

  • Livelihoods and business planning
     

Boundaries

​

No smoking, alcohol, cannabis or recreational drugs on site
(unless part of a group ceremony)

No meat, animal products, sugar, caffeine or junk food in communal areas

(can be in own space)


 

Who is this for?

 

Those who:

  • Are actively looking to join an ecovillage 

  • See the benefits and would like to join a project from the beginning

  • Have some experience living off grid with basic facilities

  • Enjoy and can contribute to working on a project as a team

  • Have some experience living in Portugal and the climate of this area and would like to live here

  • Have own accommodation (tent, yurt, dome, campervan, caravan) 


 

Why Participate?

Early access to the project: chance to become a co-founder and be part of forming the project. 

Chance to join as a resident member with a reduced joining cost as founder. 

Possibility for paid roles in the management team and running workshops, retreats and recruitment events.

 

You are welcome to first visit and help set up in the weeks before the event, before committing to reserving a place.
 

This event will possibly be repeated this year, until a group of co-founders begins to form.
